Privacy Policy
Harken is a product of Havens & Angar ("HAAN", "we", "us", "our"), a business registered in Nigeria. This policy explains what information Harken collects when you use the platform, why we collect it, and what choices you have. It's written in plain language on purpose — if anything here is unclear, you can reach us at the contact details below.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us directly:
- Your name, date of birth, and state/location, when you create an account
- Your email address and password
- The interests you select on your profile
- Anything you post — photos, videos, captions, and where you'd like that post to reach
- Comments, likes, and reports you submit
Information we collect automatically as you use Harken:
- Which posts you view, like, and comment on. We use this to understand what genuinely interests you — beyond what you typed into your profile — so the posts you're shown get more relevant over time, not less.
- Basic account activity needed to keep the platform secure and working correctly.
Information from payments:
When you boost a post with a real payment (rather than growth credit), your payment is processed directly by Paystack. Harken does not see or store your card details — only the outcome (paid or not) and the amount, which Paystack sends us to confirm your boost.
2. Why we collect it
- To run your account and show your posts to the right people — matching by location, declared interests, and real behavior is the core of how Harken works.
- To process boosts and growth credits.
- To let other users see a poster's public track record (name, location, join date, and post history) — this is a deliberate, visible feature of Harken, built so people can judge a business's credibility before engaging with it.
- To review reported content and keep the platform safe.
- To communicate with you — confirmations, password resets, and important account notices.
3. What's public vs. private
Some information on Harken is deliberately public by design, because Harken is a promotion platform, not a private messaging app:
- Your name, state, join date, and everything you post are visible on your public profile to anyone, including people who aren't signed in — that's how shared post links work.
- Your date of birth, credit balance, and referral details are never shown publicly — only to you.
4. Who we share information with
We don't sell your information. We share it only with the service providers that make Harken work, each only for that purpose:
- Supabase — hosts our database and stores uploaded photos/videos.
- Paystack — processes real-money payments for boosts.
- Resend — delivers account emails (confirmations, password resets).
- Vercel — hosts the Harken website itself.
We may also disclose information if required by Nigerian law, or to investigate a report of fraud, abuse, or a safety concern on the platform.
5. Your rights and choices
- You can edit your name, state, and interests at any time from your profile.
- You can delete individual posts, comments, or likes at any time.
- You can request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account and associated data, by contacting us below — we'll respond within a reasonable time, consistent with Nigeria's Data Protection Act.
- Some information (like transaction records for completed boosts) may need to be retained for a period even after a deletion request, where we're legally required to keep financial records.
6. Data security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and strict database access controls that limit exactly who and what can read or change your data. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.
7. Children's privacy
Harken is intended for users aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Harken grows. If we make a material change, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
